Just like a football coach reviewing the video playbacks with their players...a Driver coach needs time to review footage with his or her drivers. Here are a few tips for getting the most out of your coaching sessions:
- Make it targeted. Every driver is different. And your coaching sessions should be too. Use video clips and related insights to give targeted feedback on the issues specific to the driver you’re coaching.
- Make it specific. And make sure that feedback is specific. Letting the driver know specific behaviors that can be improved to avoid the event in the future.
- Make it timely and be proactive. Finally, make sure the data is reviewed soon after the event—ensuring the incident is fresh in the driver’s mind. The more timely your feedback, the more likely your driver will be receptive to it, and the more effective your coaching will be.
