Lytx’s 2023 “Drivers of the Year” Discuss Distracted Driving Awareness

In honor of National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) Distracted Driving Awareness Month (April), Lytx sat down with the winners of the 2023 Driver of Year awards to discuss the distractions they’re seeing on today’s roadways and the tips they have for staying safe on the road.

Distracted driving is an extremely dangerous activity on today’s roadways, having contributed to 3,522 lives lost in 2021, according to NHTSA’s most recent crash stats. The issue continues to get nationwide attention due to the high-level of risk that is associated with it.

To increase awareness, NHTSA and other industry leaders continue to urge everyone behind a wheel to drive responsibly and to be aware of the potentially deadly consequences. A focused and attentive driver leads to fewer accidents and makes the roadways a safer place for everyone.

In the first clip, Tim Holmes (Concrete Delivery Professional, Manatt’s Inc.), Michael Warner (Driver, First Transit Houston RAC), and Keith Whyley (Driver, A&K Enns Trucking Ltd.) share examples of distracted driving they’ve seen on the road, and what other drivers should look out for.
