As we begin the holiday season, we’re reflecting on quite a year. Unprecedented, unexpected, unusual—however you say it, 2020 was one for the books. This year more than ever before, we wanted to take a moment to thank our customers and tell them how grateful we are that they showed up to work and gave back to their communities when we needed them most.

When the world stopped, you kept moving. Here are some of our favorite moments and stories from your companies this year:

1. MV Transportation – Helped evacuate ambulatory & mobility-challenges customers out of wildfires in California

MV Transportation is the largest provider of paratransit services and the largest privately-owned passenger transportation contracting firm in the United States. The company has shown strong leadership during the pandemic and recent natural disasters—many of MV Transportation’s employees put their lives on the line to provide critically important services to those in need.

2. Pierce Transit – Handed out thousands of masks to passengers

Founded in 1979, Pierce Transit provides safe and sustainable public transportation to Washington’s second largest county. The company offers three types of service—fixed route, SHUTTLE paratransit, and vanpools. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Pierce Transit has been a force for good and a staunch advocate of health and safety, as exhibited by their upbeat tweets.

3. XPO Logistics – Honored veterans and supported one driver’s holiday drive that supports local animal shelters

XPO is a top 10 global provider of transportation and logistics services, with a highly integrated network of people, technology, and physical assets. Not only has the company quickly pivoted its policies and procedures to adapt to COVID-19 guidelines, but XPO frequently celebrates how its employees make the world a better place, even in the midst of these unprecedented times.

4. NFI Industries – Delivered essential goods while covid-19 was sweeping the nation

NFI specializes in worry-free supply chain solutions in transportation, distribution, real estate, global, intermodal, freight brokerage, and port drayage. One of the silver linings of the global pandemic, which NFI has championed, has been the rise of the “everyday hero.” NFI honors and thanks team members and others like them who are taking risks to provide essential services, goods, and care.

5. TransWood and The Kroger Co. – Transported essential food, goods, and other supplies during the pandemic

Millions of truck drivers have been delivering essential food, goods, and supplies to people and companies throughout the lockdowns and activity restrictions. 6. Modern Transportation – Partnered with local charities to help reduce food insecurity in PA and NJ

Since 1987, Modern Transportation has provided effective supply chain solutions to material and chemical providers, energy producers, and industrial manufacturers. Leveraging its expertise and resources, Modern Transportation took the initiative to help solve one of the biggest problems resulting from COVID-19—food shortages and insecurity. The company and its partners have provided much needed support to regional food banks.

7. Sysco – Emphasized the importance of mental health during this tough year

One of the most recognizable names in the food service industry, Sysco is the global leader in selling, marketing, and distributing food and non-food products to customers around the world. Sysco has proven its leadership abilities during the pandemic, as well. From food shortages to mental health, the company has been at the forefront of addressing some of the most challenging issues of the day.

8. CEMEX Global – Helped sanitize public areas around the world

CEMEX is global industry leader in the production and supply of cement, aggregates, ready-mix concrete, and related building products. In reaction to COVID-19, the company has been providing critical sanitization to outdoor public health areas, like hospital entrances. CEMEX has done an impressive job of focusing on safety and building community together.

9. National Grid – Helped keep the power on for millions of people on the east coast

National Grid is one of the largest investor-owned energy companies in the U.S., serving more than 20 million customers throughout New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Back in March, about 200 National Grid employees volunteered to live on site. These men and women worked 12-hour shifts for two to four consecutive weeks, while sleeping in offices, to ensure uninterrupted service for power plants throughout the Northeast and simultaneously minimize the risk of contagion. 10. MBTA – Shared moments of positivity in a time of so much negativity

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) is one of the oldest public transit systems in the United States, and is the largest transit system in Massachusetts. After the pandemic changed how virtually everyone worldwide moved around cities, MBTA kept its focus on the hard work and resilience of its front-line workers. This tweeted quote from one of MBTA’s operators is a perfect example of the positive messaging the authority has promoted.

11. Manatee County Emergency Medical Services – Quickly adopted new protocols and responded to thousands of medical emergencies

Manatee County EMS is the primary 911-emergency response service to the citizens and visitors of the area, operating over 20 ALS units. Sean Dwyer, Deputy Chief of Manatee County EMS, recently shared how his organization responded to COVID-19. In this article, he explains how the county continually refined its protocols to protect physical and mental health (of both its paramedics and the public they serve), as well as heightened driver safety, operations, and communications.
